Stafford County Sheriff's Sgts. Jett and Jacobeen were at Walmart on Garrisonville Road when a citizen spotted Brian Lewis and Angela Moore getting into a car around 6:20 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, Sheriff David Decatur said on Tuesday afternoon.
While their canvas was in its infancy, officials say that another witness approached the sergeants to repeat the claim that the drugged up duo were able to get behind the wheel.
The investigators were able to quickly spot the suspect vehicle parked across the street at a Quality Inn, though when they approached the pair, Lewis, 44, a Woodbridge resident, tried to pull a fast one on them by providing a false ID.
His gambit was quickly uncovered, and it was determined that he was wanted out of Prince William County for multiple drug charges.
A Colonial Beach resident, Moore, 35, was more forthcoming, even though she was also wanted in both Fairfax and Orange counties for failure to make previous court appearances.
Further investigation led to the seizure of drugs that belonged to them inside their vehicle.
Lewis was charged with possession of controlled substances and falsely identifying himself to law enforcement, while Moore was charged with possession of controlled substances.
Both were also served on their outstanding warrants and are being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond. No details about their next court appearances has been released.
